Window Cleaning

How Clean Are Your Windows? If you’re noticing a lot of dust and grime from the rainy spring we had, your windows may be needing some TLC. Use these tips to get streak free windows you’ll love all summer long.
What to Use
Microfiber towl – Soak in hot water before using, this allows them to open up and collect more dirt and grime when cleaning windows.
Sponge – Inexpensive, easy to hold, absorbable, and long-lasting.
Newspaper – Dense, it will not scratch. If your windows are very dirty rub in circular motions first then in lines.
Squeegee – Tough enough to loosen dirt and won’t damage glass. If your windows are big, this will save time because a bigger surface area is covered.
What Not to Use
Cloth rags – Will work to get primary filth off but will most likely leave streaks due to fibers.
Paper towels – Can scratch windows due to the lint and fibers in them. These will smear filth causing streaks rather than clean your windows.
What to Cleaner to Use
White Vinegar & Water – For inside windows, chemical-free to help eliminate streaks. The best part is that it is animal and kid-friendly.
Dish Soap & Water – For outside windows, if that doesn’t work there is always commercial grade cleaner.
Commercial grade cleaner – More expensive and not as easily available. Plus, they’re not guaranteed to be kid, pet, or eco-friendly.
When to Clean
Overcast day or when the sun isn’t directly shining through your windows. This is so the sun doesn’t dry the solution and leave a buildup or film of chemicals.
Cleaning your windows can be time consuming, especially if you don’t notice the streaks until a sunny day, thus causing you to clean them again.
