Power Washing
Published 9/5/2017
Summer is coming to an end which means the outside of your home is probably in need of a good power clean from all of the outdoor fun. Most of us don’t realize that you can power wash more than just your driveway. As a matter of fact, you can use pressure washers on a variety of surfaces outside of your home. Here’s a quick list of 5 ways to utilize power washers this fall to freshen up the exterior of your home before the winter freeze.
1. Home Exterior Siding
The exterior of your home gets incredibly dirty in the summer, especially with all of the rain. Whether your house is covered in siding, cement fiber, or brick, it can be power washed. Be sure to use high water pressure and a mild soap for best results. You’ll be amazed at the true color of your home underneath all of the outdoor grime covering it. Tip: Try not to use a ladder if possible, given that the high-pressure of the power washer could knock you off of one!
2. Deck & Patio
Even if your deck or patio has a sealer on it, grease, grime, and dirt can still seep through. Power washing your deck can actually help it last longer as soil and oil can erode it. Whether your deck is composed of wood, stone, or concrete, power washing it should be part of your yearly maintenance, especially underneath your table, chairs, and grill!
3. Fence
Fence power washing a commonly forgotten about type of power washing. Fences can mold, rust, and discolor easily so it’s important to give your fence a good power clean before winter. Your fence is one of the first things your neighbors see, so give them a view worth looking at! Plus, it will aid in the longevity of your fence. Power washing can be used on wood, steel, panel, or even vinyl fencing.
4. Pavement and Sidewalk
Pavement or sidewalk power washing is one of the most common types of power washing. Due to heavy foot traffic, it’s to be expected that our driveways and pathways, get incredibly dirty. Be sure to use high water pressure on surfaces such as brick or stone as dirt and grime tends to fall in the crevices and grout. If you don’t see enough of a clean the first time around, wait an hour and then try going over it again!
5. Garage
With tires tracking in dirt and oil leaks leaving grease behind, your garage can get really dirty, really fast. Whether your garage floor is made of rubber or cement, a good power clean can make a world’s difference. You keep the inside of your home clean, so why not keep your car’s home clean too?
