Will the Gutterglove® Gutter Guard fit on my gutters?

Yes, Gutterglove® has a product for every type of roof type and every gutter type. The Gutterglove® Pro, specifically fits every home. The others are a bit more specific but cover all of the most common roofs and gutters.

Is there a difference in the types of stainless steel mesh used on other gutter guards in the market today?

Yes. Gutterglove® uses a Unites States grade 316 stainless steel filtering mesh, the highest grade available for underwater ocean applications for it’s resistance to corrosion. There are Chinese grade stainless steel meshes on the market that you need to be very careful about. There may be other mesh gutter guards that use this lower quality form of 316 Stainless Steel. The downside on this lower grade is that it is very susceptible to corrosion and pitting and can over time fail as a gutter guard.

Will debris collect on top of Gutterglove® and not fall off?

In general, most of the debris (leaves, sand, small tree debris) falls off Gutterglove®. Rain pounding on top of Gutterglove®, the slope of the roof, and gentle to strong winds push virtually all debris off our gutter protection system. The pounding of the rain actually self-cleans the mesh in most situations. Gutterglove® should be installed at the same pitch as the roof to get the best results of debris shedding off. This may include lowering the gutters to create a seamless transition across surfaces.

Is Gutterglove® too heavy for a gutter?

No. It weighs approximately 12 ounces per foot and half that weight rests on the roof. Only 6 ounces per foot rest on the front lip of the gutter.

Will Gutterglove® handle heavy snow-loads in high elevations?

Yes. It will handle hundreds of pounds of snow. Your gutters would collapse before Gutterglove® would break.

FAQ: Gutterglove® Components & Specifications

Why does Gutterglove® use a hardened anodized aluminum frame to support the 316 stainless steel mesh?

Anodizing the aluminum frame is definitely overkill, but then again, all the components used in Gutterglove® are. The founders of Gutterglove believe that using the highest quality parts in our product is but one of several things that homeowners want and set us apart from our competition.

Will it fit on any gutter?

Gutterglove fits on every gutter style on the market.

FAQ: Compare Gutterglove®

Will Gutterglove® out-perform other competitive gutter guards?

Every gutter guard company would say yes to this question, however we can prove it. Order “The Gutterguard Show” and see how Gutterglove out performs several popular gutter guards. When compared to the “reverse curve water flow systems” (old technology from the 1920’s), the gutter covers that have that roundish nose at the edge of the gutter and say “nothing but water gets through”… there is no comparison at all. Gutterglove outperforms them time and time again. Simply put, performance is based on how much debris gets through a gutter guard. So however big the hole is to allow water through to your gutter, will be the size of debris that can get through also. When comparing hole sizes, the reverse curve gutter guards have holes that are about 50 times larger than Gutterglove! And, they can cost considerably more to install.

FAQ: Gutterglove® IceBreaker

Does the heat cable have to be installed at the same time as Icebreaker?

No. If you wanted to save some money and do the install in two phases, you could install Gutterglove® Icebreaker first, and then several months later you could have the cable installed. However, it would be less expensive anyway if you installed both at the same time.

Are there other heated gutter guards on the market?

No, well yes … but actually no. Not sure if that answers the question. Icebreaker is the first true heated gutter guard. A true heated gutter guard simply means that the gutter guard has a built in channel specifically made for a self-regulating cable to enclose the heat cable and thus optimizes the heat potential without wasting heat. There are a couple other gutter guards that claim to be a ‘heated gutter guard’, but to the definition of a heated gutter guard, they are not. They either tape the cable to the underside of the gutter guard, or they have a clip that the cable hangs from inside the gutter.

The HUGE problem with this scenario is that the cable is loosing a tremendous amount of heat because it’s exposed on either all three sides if taped on, or four sides if it’s clipped on. This is why they use two cables, because there is so much heat lost from their application of install, that these other so-called heated gutter guards have to a put second cable on the bottom of the gutter!

These other so-called heated gutter guards only come in the ‘reverse curve’ type, so their gutter system tends to fill up with leaves, pine needles and small debris. You still have to clean out your gutters with their gutter guard.

Icebreaker encloses all four sides of the cable with metal so all the heat generated from the cable is captured by the aluminum alloy #6063 and transferred throughout itself and the gutter.

Will snow and ice that slides off my roof tear of Gutterglove® Icebreaker and my gutters?

No. When Icebreaker is installed at the same pitch of the roof on your gutter, any snow and ice that slides off the roof will slide over Gutterglove and will not tear off your gutter. Icebreaker is like a ski-jump for the snow and ice.

What is snow harvesting?

It’s the same as rain harvesting, you just have to melt the ice and snow (frozen rainwater) first. Rain harvesting is now possible in freezing areas of the country with Gutterglove® Icebreaker. Not only will our heated gutter guard melt the snow so you can harvest it and store it in your rainwater tanks, but Gutterglove Icebreaker also keeps out leaves, pine needles and sand out of your rainwater storage tanks.

Most of the time in snow-load areas of the country you don’t have gutters, but with Icebreakers is it ok to install gutters now?

If you live in areas where it’s so cold that ice problems prohibit you from having a gutter system, thus not allowing you to channel rainwater when it’s raining and not snowing, then think again. With Gutterglove® Icebreaker you can now have a fully functional deicing gutter system during the freezing winters to melt the ice, and it will double as a fully functional rainwater gutter system when it’s raining and not snowing for diverting the rainwater away from your landscape to avoid erosion problems.

Does Icebreaker Eliminate Gutter Cleaning?

Yes. Icebreaker has the same filtering features as the standard Gutterglove® gutter protection system. It keeps out all the leaves, pine needles, seed pods and even sand.

What is a self-regulating cable?

It’s a heat cable that regulates the watt usage based on temperature. If it’s warm out, it virtually shuts off, when it’s freezing, it automatically increases the wattage to warm up the cable and the gutter to melt the ice. You could call this a ‘smart cable’ because it knows when to heat up and it knows when to cool down all on it’s own.

What is Gutterglove® Icebreaker?

Gutterglove® Icebreaker is a sub-zero winter gutter protection and gutter deicing system. Icebreaker conductively radiates heat throughout itself and the gutter to melt icicles, ice dams and snow loads. THERE IS NO NEED FOR TWO HEAT CABLES! Icebreaker eliminates the need for a second cable at the bottom of the gutter because Icebreaker radiates heat to the bottom of the gutter and melts any ice build-up, even at -20° below zero (Fahrenheit).
